Report a bad driver in Ottawa

In Ottawa, a bad driver you saw goes to Ottawa Police through their online traffic complaint. Highway 417 goes to the OPP. Since the city's photo radar was shut off in 2025, speeds at the old camera sites have gone up.

Happening now? If a driver looks impaired, is racing, or a crash looks likely, call 911. Pull over first, or have a passenger call.

Report it to Ottawa Police

Use the Ottawa Police online Traffic Complaint for general traffic concerns, distracted driving, or a driver breaking the rules of the road. You get a temporary reference number right away and an official report number after it's reviewed. Police aim to acknowledge reports within 48 hours.

Police may not contact you about every traffic complaint. They use all of them to decide where to send enforcement, so a report about a street with a pattern still counts.

To report by phone, call 613-236-1222. The Police Reporting Unit is at extension 7300, from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., every day. To give a tip anonymously, use Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Save your dashcam clip in case an officer asks for it.

On the highways through Ottawa

Ask the city to fix a dangerous road

All 60 of Ottawa's photo radar cameras shut off on November 14, 2025, when Ontario banned municipal speed cameras. By May 2026, the city's data showed drivers going 8 to 10 km/h faster at the former camera sites.

Red light cameras weren't part of the ban and still run. To report a road safety problem on a city street or ask about traffic calming, call 311.

Warn other drivers

A police report stays between you and the police. To warn other drivers about the same car, post your dashcam clip here. Other people can then look up the plate and see what you saw. Your name and email stay private.

Report a driver or look up a plate.
