Report a bad driver in Hamilton

Hamilton Police take reports of aggressive driving through a 24-hour hotline and an email address, and can send the car's owner a warning letter. The QEW and Highway 403 go to the OPP.

Happening now? If a driver looks impaired, is racing, or a crash looks likely, call 911. Pull over first, or have a passenger call.

Report it to Hamilton Police

Report an aggressive driver to Hamilton Police on the Aggressive Drivers Hot Line, 905-546-1768, or by email to aggressivedriver@hamiltonpolice.ca. Both take reports around the clock. The hotline is a voicemail, so leave:

Once police check the report, they may send a letter to the car's registered owner. The letter isn't a fine. For anything else that isn't an emergency, call 905-546-4925.

Save your dashcam clip in case an officer asks for it.

On the highways through Hamilton

The QEW and Highway 403 are provincial highways patrolled by the OPP. For something you saw on one of them, call *677 on a cell phone, or 1-888-310-1122.

Ask the city to fix a dangerous road

Hamilton's speed cameras stopped issuing tickets on November 14, 2025, when Ontario banned municipal speed cameras. Red light cameras weren't part of the ban and still run. The city's Vision Zero program also uses dynamic speed signs that show drivers how fast they're going.

To ask for a safety review of a street or intersection, or for traffic calming, a speed sign, an all-way stop or a lower limit, contact the city's Traffic Operations at 905-546-4376 or TrafficOps@hamilton.ca. Say exactly where, what the problem is (speeding, poor sightlines, kids crossing), and what time of day it's worst.
