Report a bad driver in Markham
Markham is policed by York Regional Police, and a bad driver report goes to their Road Watch form. Highways 404 and 407 go to the OPP. For speeding on your street, the city's contact centre can send a speed display board.
Happening now? If a driver looks impaired, is racing, or a crash looks likely, call 911. Pull over first, or have a passenger call.
Report it to York Regional Police
York Regional Police run Road Watch, an online form for aggressive driving in York Region. Use it when there was no collision, you don't know the driver, and you have the plate. It asks for the plate, a description of the car, the date, time and location in Markham, what the driver did, and your contact details. Reports must go through the online form, not email.
The City of Markham explains what happens next: the first report on a plate gets a letter to the registered owner, the second a letter and a phone call from an officer, and the third a visit from an officer. You need to use your real name, and it's never shared with the driver you reported.
For anything else that isn't an emergency, call 1-866-876-5423. Making a false report is a criminal offence.
On the highways through Markham
Highways 404 and 407 run through Markham. The OPP patrols Ontario's 400-series highways: for something you saw on the 404 or 407, call *677 on a cell phone, or 1-888-310-1122.
Ask the city to fix a dangerous road
Markham council approved a five-year Vision Zero Road Safety Plan in February 2026. It focuses on intersections, people walking and cycling, school zones, aggressive driving, distracted driving and young drivers. Markham's roads average about 870 collisions a year, more than 200 of them with an injury or a death.
All speed cameras in Ontario stopped issuing tickets on November 14, 2025. Markham's main tool now is 24 speed display boards that move to a new street about every three months, while York Regional Police handle enforcement.
To ask the city to look at speeding on your street, contact the Markham Contact Centre at 905-477-5530 or customerservice@markham.ca. Highway 7 and Kennedy Road are York Region roads, not city roads, so the city plan doesn't cover them.

Warn other drivers
A police report stays between you and the police. To warn other drivers about the same car, post your dashcam clip here. Other people can then look up the plate and see what you saw. Your name and email stay private.
